On June 15, 2013, a cloudburst was reported in Kedarnath and Rambada region of Uttarakhand State. Due to the ensuing rains and floods, thousands of people lost their lives and many more were displaced.
Jan Jagran Samiti, an NGO with a track record of 28 years, had submitted a proposal to build a weaving and production centre at Lamgaundi, Rudraprayag District by training about 300 widows and destitute women in nearby villages.
Vision2020 took up the proposal and after due diligence, approved of funding to the tune of Rs.13.80 lacs for the construction work, out of which Rs.8.28 lacs has now been remitted for the construction work to start.
The balance Rs.5.52 lacs is ready for disbursement, once the construction of the first tranche has been satisfactorily completed.
